CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIRST SCHOLARSHIP WINNER!

Sean Ewing is the recipient of the 2006 Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation college scholarship.  Sean graduated from Kirtland High School Sunday June 4, and he plans to attend Cedarville University to pursue a career in ministry.  In addition to excellent academic performance at KHS, Sean has been a stand out volunteer; he works with Youth Group, Praise Band, Nursing Home Ministry, Salvation Army, and he has had missions to Baltimore and to Pachuca, Mexico.  Sean is unabashed in his expression of his life vocation, "This list of activities which I have done over the past few years have been a product of my love for Jesus Christ, and for the people with whom I share this planet.  Jesus Christ has motivated me to do what I have done.  I only wish that I had done more.  I will be leaving Kirtland High School this summer in the hopes of impacting the world around me in a positive way.  I will be returning to Pachuca, Mexico to teach English for a second year in July.  I will also continue to serve in the local area."  At Cedarville University this fall Sean will be majoring in Pre-seminary Bible.  He plans to go on to seminary after that to receive a Th.M. degree.  "I want to begin my career as a Youth Pastor to help impact teens' lives for the better.  After that, I want to go on to be either a Senior Pastor, or to become involved in international ministry."  Sean's plans and resolve are very impressive for a young man.  He has a deep faith and remarkable vision of his own future.  He has overcome the tragedy of losing his mother during his KHS years and he has taken that sad experience as part of his spiritual path, "many things have lead me to this path, and not all of them were positive.  Regardless, I know that God has used these experiences to shape me into the young man I am today, and I thank Him and praise Him for that.  I plan on working to pursue and enhance His Kingdom for the rest of my life."  Please join us in congratulating Sean and wishing him the very best at Cedarville and for many years to come.
